چکیده

There are errors in the published article. The isolate # 3172 ABBSB1189-1 (genome 14) was named as Enteritidis by mistake. The correct isolate should be Typhimurium. Serotyping was incorrect for the isolate # 3193 ABBSB1050-2 (genome 13). It was incorrectly labeled as Enteritidis. The correct label should be Thompson. These errors affect Figs 1C and 2–7, S3 and S4 Figs, and S1 and S2 Tables. Please view correct versions of the files here.

Genomic Comparison of Non-Typhoidal Salmonella enterica Serovars Typhimurium, Enteritidis, Heidelberg, Hadar and Kentucky Isolates from Broiler Chickens

BACKGROUND Non-typhoidal Salmonella enterica serovars, associated with different foods including poultry products, are important causes of bacterial gastroenteritis worldwide. The colonization of the chicken gut by S. enterica could result in the contamination of the environment and food chain. The aim of this study was to compare the genomes of 25 S. enterica serovars isolated from broiler chi...

Horizontal Gene Transfer of a ColV Plasmid Has Resulted in a Dominant Avian Clonal Type of Salmonella enterica Serovar Kentucky

Salmonella enterica continues to be a significant cause of foodborne gastrointestinal illness in humans. A wide variety of Salmonella serovars have been isolated from production birds and from retail poultry meat. Recently, though, S. enterica subsp. enterica serovar Kentucky has emerged as one of the prominent Salmonella serovars isolated from broiler chickens. Recent work suggests that its em...

Characterization of the Salmonella Isolates from Backyard Chickens in North of Iran, by Serotyping, Multiplex PCR and Antibiotic Resistance Analysis

The present study was designed to investigate the prevalence of Salmonella species, their molecular characterization and antibiotic resistance in backyard chickens. A total of 1125 samples were collected from backyard chickens in two consequent samplings. In the first part, samples were included of 820 poor recently hatched chicks, hatching residuals, egg shells in the nest floor, cloacal swabs...

Virulence Gene Profiling and Pathogenicity Characterization of Non-Typhoidal Salmonella Accounted for Invasive Disease in Humans

Human infection with non-typhoidal Salmonella serovars (NTS) infrequently causes invasive systemic disease and bacteremia. To understand better the nature of invasive NTS (iNTS), we studied the gene content and the pathogenicity of bacteremic strains from twelve serovars (Typhimurium, Enteritidis, Choleraesuis, Dublin, Virchow, Newport, Bredeney, Heidelberg, Montevideo, Schwarzengrund, 9,12:l,v...

Quinolone resistance mechanisms in Salmonella enterica serovars Hadar, Kentucky, Virchow, Schwarzengrund, and 4,5,12:i:-, isolated from humans in Switzerland, and identification of a novel qnrD variant, qnrD2, in S. Hadar.

Human isolates of Salmonella enterica serovars Hadar, Kentucky, Virchow, Schwarzengrund, and the monophasic variant of S. Typhimurium, Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar 4,5,12:i:- were examined for mutations within the quinolone resistance target genes gyrA, gyrB, parC, and parE and for plasmid-mediated resistance genes. Differences were observed among the serovars. A novel variant of...
